SVELVIK – Innovative Hybrid Ferry with Precision Interiors
Accomar Marine Interior is proud to have played a key role in the SVELVIK ferry project, built at Sefine Shipyard and designed by Norwegian Ship Design for Bastø Fosen.
This modern hybrid ferry serves the Drammensfjord connection between Svelvik and Verket, replacing an older vessel and improving both efficiency and passenger experience. With a focus on advanced hybrid propulsion technology and optimized interior spaces, SVELVIK reflects a seamless blend of innovation and sustainability.
Accomar’s Contribution:
Concept & Detailed Design: Accomar meticulously developed conceptual designs and detailed engineering plans to ensure optimal space utilization and operational efficiency.
Integrated Accommodation Solutions: Professional installation of insulation, walls, ceilings, and flooring, prioritizing durability, fire resistance, and acoustic insulation to meet marine industry standards.
Custom Furniture Craftsmanship: Bespoke fixed, soft, and stainless-steel furniture was designed and manufactured to meet marine-grade standards, ensuring both functionality and aesthetics.
Operational Spaces: Accomar outfitted the galley, laundry, and provision spaces, supporting smooth daily operations and enhancing crew convenience.
Technical Excellence:
Hybrid Drive System: The SVELVIK is equipped with a diesel-electric and electric hybrid propulsion system, featuring two Schottel propeller nacelles, each powered by a 400 kW electric motor, ensuring optimized energy efficiency.
Power Generation: Two Scania DI13 diesel generators, each delivering 425 kW, ensure a reliable energy supply throughout the ferry’s operations.
Battery Storage: Integrated 342 kWh accumulators, rechargeable through onboard generators or shore power, contribute to enhancing operational sustainability.
Ice-Class Hull: The ferry’s C-Class ice-strengthened hull ensures resilience in harsh environmental conditions, maintaining high performance even in extreme weather.
Interior Design & Passenger Comfort:
Continuous Vehicle Deck: The three-lane deck with fold-down ramps at both ends provides 5 meters of clearance height and a maximum axle load of 15 tons, facilitating the seamless transport of vehicles.
Passenger Lounge: A modern and comfortable lounge located on the main deck offers passengers an enjoyable and relaxed travel experience.
Crew Facilities: Dedicated crew spaces, including individual cabins, lounge, and galley, ensure comfort and efficiency for onboard staff during their shifts.
